Tracktion Software Corporation is proud to announce the launch of Tracktion Version 5 (T5). This eagerly awaited update to the popular Tracktion recording application combines an intuitive workflow with a ground-breaking feature set at a remarkable price. T5 will be available for download from www.tracktion.com at $29.99 for upgrades or $59.99 for new licenses. The software operates on Mac, PC and Linux systems.

��Our intention from the start has been to enable rapid capture and manipulation of musical ideas,” explained Julian Storer, Tracktion creator and co-founder of TSC. “To that end, Tracktion 5 eliminates barriers to the creative flow as it solves a number of problems that have long plagued the multi-track recording process.”

For instance, the need to create sub-mixes in order to free-up resources for additional tracks is now eliminated by T5’s revolutionary ‘Edit Clip’ format (left). This allows users to embed multi-track material as if it were a single audio clip – while allowing the source material to be edited. This makes even complex song arrangement a breeze and greatly improves the use of system resources.

To make the best possible use of your computer’s capabilities and achieve professional results without dedicated, external DSP, T5 introduces a full blown System Resource Manager and unique ‘Freeze Point’ technology. This gives the user precise control over which session elements should be automatically pre-rendered, so that they can reduce CPU load while retaining mixing/editing flexibility. The result is surprisingly low latency playback regardless of session size.

While MIDI is not new to digital recording, T5 includes a greatly enhanced set of MIDI capabilities. Creating beats with any of your favorite plug-ins has never been easier with a new “In-line Step Sequencer” (right) that can be viewed and edited right in the timeline like any other clip. The piano-roll editor has also been overhauled to include a raft of new features such as “Per-note Automation” and rapid “MIDI Learn” for easy integration with hardware controllers. There is even support for next-generation instruments such as ROLI’s Seaboard with MDC (multi-dimensional control).

Tracktion 5 has hundreds of new features – including ARA integration for Celemony Software’s Melodyne, rapid audio comping, track presets and much more.

Tracktion 4 (T4) features the same operational characteristics as the original program but with an entirely new audio engine. This progression is intended not only to make T4 compatible with all the latest operating systems, plug-in and controller technology, but also to create a modern platform for further development. TSC is dedicated to the continued evolution of the product.

To be specific, T4 provides support for OSX Mountain Lion to take advantage of Apple’s very latest hardware and operating systems. It also provides support for Microsoft’s Windows 7 & 8. Apple Audio Unit (AU) is supported to open a new world of effects and instruments for Tracktion users and the latest generation audio codec from Microsoft, Windows Media Audio (WMA) is also supported.

Windows Audio Session API (WASAPI) is included for optimized audio data management between applications. There is also support for 64bit Mac and PC operating systems so Tracktion can squeeze the highest performance out of current computer resources.

This latest update includes several great feature enhancements and bug fixes, including:

International language support: Tracktion 2 can now display all elements of its program in French, German and Spanish in addition to English.
New render track dialog: Choosing render track in the "export" function now opens a dialog window allowing detailed control over the sample rate, sample size, and file type of the render.
New group soloing functionality: Soloing a source track fed to a group will also solo the group. Soloing a group now solos all tracks fed to that group.
Custom naming ability to audio outputs: Users can now add custom alias names for their hardware outputs, not just inputs — particularly useful for Mac OS 10.4's "Aggregate device" function.
Fixed issue on Mac with Waves plug-ins crashing T2 during the plug-in scan.
Fixed issue with Delete Marked region across all tracks inserting automation points.
Fixed issue with MIDI data not working well with external MIDI hardware. This fixes complaints of doubled notes, dropped notes, or bad timing when sending MIDI to external MIDI hardware.
