DP's new welcome window appears at launch and provides quick access to recent files, new project templates, training resources, and MOTU news.
The ability to export MP3's is now built in to DP and no longer requires the LAME framework (or any extra setup).
Version 8.02 provides many improvements, optimizations, and refinements. Here are just a few highlights:
If a movie is fullscreen, switching chunks now preserves fullscreen viewing.
Improved performance when the Movie Track is visible. Improved video scrubbing.
Waveform drawing is now smoother at certain zoom levels.

Universal Binary:
This version of Digital Performer is the first to be fully compatible with both the new Intel based Mac systems, as well as PowerPC-based G4 and G5 Mac computers.
Add Instrument Track:
There is a new option in the Project > Add Instrument Tracks menu named Add Instruments... Selecting this will bring up a dialog that allows you to choose how many of the selected instrument to add, how many MIDI Tracks to add that will be assigned to the selected instrument, and whether or not the new Instrument and MIDI Tracks get added to a new Track Folder. If you create multiple MIDI tracks and the Instrument you choose has multiple MIDI Destinations, Digital Performer will map each MIDI device to a separate channel.
Meter Bridge:
There is a Meter Width control above the meter scale.
There is a button labeled "instrmnt." Enabling this button allows you to see meters for the outputs that are mapped to your Instrument Bundles (multiple outs). The main output of your instruments are only viewable in the Tracks view.
You may also Option-Click to isolate a view, and Command-Click to show all others.
Audio Bundles:
There are two new options in the Bundles Window->Mini-Menu named Import Bundles... and Export Bundles....
Export Bundles allows you to export all audio bundles for use in any Digital Performer project.
Import Bundles allows you to import saved bundles for use in any Digital Performer project.
MIDI Keys:
Tab and "\" provide Sustain (CC# 64).
General:
Control-Clicking on the track name in the Sequence Editor, Mixing Board and V-Rack allows you to set the Track Color.
Surround Tracks in the Mixing Board now display their surround meters. This does not apply to mono or stereo tracks with surround outputs.

Pitch automation
DP's new pitch automation features make quick work of correcting audio pitch, transposing individual notes and even wholesale key and mode transposition of entire audio tracks. Users can grab DP's pencil tool or use the familiar Transpose command. Another audio sequencing first.
