pc Band-in-a-Box v 2012 Apr 16, 2012 MacOS X Intel
  • This new version of Band-in-a-Box for Macintosh adds over 50 new features and enhancements plus 101 more Jazz, Country, and Rock/Pop RealTracks, a total of 202 new RealTracks since version 2011. This brings the total number of RealTracks to more than 870. That’s more than 1,000 hours of studio quality accompaniment with great session players!”

  • In addition to Band-in-a-Box 2012 and 101 great sounding new RealTracks, the AmpliTube® CS guitar amp simulator is included, along with over 150 “Direct Input” guitar-based RealTracks. Users can customize these clean DI guitar recordings by generating clean Guitar tracks inside Band-in-a-Box and then use the Drag ‘n’ Drop feature to load them into a DAW (GarageBand, Logic etc.), and add custom amp and pedal F/X using the new guitar amp simulator. “Loops” support has been added, allowing the user to play an audio loop (M4A, MP4, AIFF, or WAV file) on any track. Custom MIDITracks can now be taken from any Band-in-a-Box style and played on a track within your song. EZ selection of “DrumGrooves” has been added; these are different grooves within RealDrums styles. Other new features include the option for simpler RealTracks, styles, and song arrangements, and there are many more.
    Band-in-a-Box v 2011b38 Oct 14, 2011 MacOS X Intel
Fixed: On a few systems, RealTracks and RealDrums were out of sync. Band-in-a-Box now automatically tests your system to determine if an offset is needed for perfect sync, and makes the adjustment without any user intervention.
Fixed: On Lion, dragging and dropping a file from the BB Screen (DragDrop area at the top left) to the Finder, would result in an alias file instead of the file itself (unless you held the command key). Now it works without creating an alias file and you don't need to hold the command key. Note that the files in the DragDrop folder are now located in your /Users/Library/Preferences/Band-in-a-Box Drag Drop folder, instead of the Applications/Band-in-a-Box folder. You can view this folder from the Band-in-a-Box - DAW Options button -- "View Drag Drop Folder".
    Updated: Band-in-a-Box 2011.5 Manual updated.
    Band-in-a-Box v 2011b35 Jul 20, 2011 MacOS X Intel
Added: "Same-But-Different" Ensures that, if you have 2 (or more) of the same RealTracks on different tracks, that they will never play the same thing at the same time. If they did it would cancel each other out, and it would sound like one person. "It just works"... there are no settings to change; it just makes the tracks different.
Added: "Pedal Bass" supported for RealTracks.
Added: "Bigger Soloists" are supported. Some of our soloists have more riffs than previous RealTracks, so they sound better. These soloists require Band-in-a-Box 2011.5 to work.
Added: Better pushes in RealTracks, especially over songs with chord changes every 2 beats. These are the natural pushes that occur automatically (not the ones you get by putting ^ carets before chord names), and they will sound more natural.
Added: Waltzes are improved with RealTracks, better playing when there are 2 chords per bar, and with better endings.
Added: Better endings when there are time signature changes in the song.
Added: Drum count-in for RealStyles that use the drum track for a RealTracks instrument (such as Bluegrass).
Added: StylePicker filter added. Display styles if RealTracks are not present. You may want to not display styles if the RealTracks for the styles are not present on your system. This filter allows you to hide or show these styles.
Added: RealDrums can now be chosen from the RealTracks Picker. Pressing the [RD] (RealDrums) button on the RealTracks Picker (Assign RealTracks to Tracks dialog) allows you to select a RealDrums, rather than needing to a separate dialog for that.
Improved: Selecting a new style won't necessarily wipe out song based RealTracks/Drums selections. If you hold down the Shift key when loading a style (from any style selection dialog), then the currently selected RealTracks and RealDrums won't get wiped out. If you load a new style (without holding Shift as above), this wipes out any song-selected RealTracks and RealDrums (unless Shift is held). Now, after loading the style, you can choose Undo, and the previous RealTracks and RealDrums come back. In the StylePicker, if you choose override drums while in the StylePicker, this won't wipe out the RealDrums when you load the style.
    Band-in-a-Box v 2011b26 Apr 17, 2011 MacOS X Intel
    # Fixed: Some RealTracks memos not displaying correctly.
    # Added: Feature to display the current Chorus indicator on-screen. It displays (e.g. 3/5 or "Intro" "tag" or "end") where the total choruses are written
    # Added: On bootup, a reminder is shown if you haven't erased un-needed files, so that you can reclaim extra space. You can reclaim 65% of the space used by the RealTracks folder, which is 65GB reclaimed on a 100GB installation!
    # Added: When erasing un-needed files, it now lists the # of files erased, and the GB reclaimed.
    # Fixed: StylePicker was sometimes picking the wrong style if a filter was in place.
    # Fixed: Chord fonts on main screen were messed up if screen was sized to wide and short.

    Band-in-a-Box v 2010.5b20 Aug 28, 2010 MacOS X Intel
    * Updated: General maintenance update.
    * Updated: Program updates for non-English versions.
    * Updated: PDF manual.
    Band-in-a-Box v 2010.5 Jul 9, 2010 MacOS X Intel
    * Added: The StylePicker now has a filter to show/hide Real or MIDI styles. So if you only want to see MIDI styles, or if you only want to see styles that use some/all RealTracks, you can set this.
    * Added: If you like the current mix (of volumes, panning, reverb), and you want this applied as a default for all songs, you can now set this by Right clicking on the Combo radio control. Choose "Make Current Mix the Default", "Load Default Mix" or "Reset Mix (to factory defaults)".
    * Added: RealTracks naturally occurring pushes are enhanced in many styles. This requires updating the ST2/XT2 files, and these are included in the 2010.5 update.
    * Added: When rendering, you can now add a dB amount to the whole mix, so that the mix will be louder or softer. There is automatic "peak-limiting" added, so that the music will not distort if you set it too high.
    * Added: Styles can now be made that are set to use Half-Time and Double-Time RealTracks. For example, you can make a Jazz Ballad style (tempo 65) that uses a Sax Soloist at tempo 140 (playing double time).
    * Added: If Band-in-a-Box cannot find your RealTracks folder or your Drums folder, a yellow hint message appears at bootup to alert you to that, and tells you how to fix it: "Note: You have RealTracks installed, but none are found in your RealTracks folder. You should point to your correct RealTracks folder in Prefs-RealTracks Settings."
    * Improved: RealTracks Pushes are now played a little quieter (2 dB quieter), so that they dont stand out as much.
    * Added: For RealTracks, many Jazz comping styles now play triads (instead of 7ths) when simple triads are entered, instead of "jazzing them up" to 7ths chords (e.g. Guitar: Freddie, Wes Piano: Some Jazz. All Stride, Rehearsal). If you prefer this "the old way", where triads are automatically "jazzed up" when comping using Jazz RealTracks, then you can set the Prefs-Realtracks settings option to force 7ths for triads.
    * Added: Enhancements for entering songs quickly. Typing special words, instead of chord names, will make the following settings:
begin sets the begin of the chorus to the current bar
end sets the end of the song to the current bar
chorusend sets the end of the song chorus to the current bar
tkc sets key signature to c, tkbb would set it to bb
trc transposes song to key of C
    t125 sets tempo to 125
    * Added: Enhancements for playing songs from the chordsheet
or double click on ending bar (or a bar in the tag), and it will play from the ending (or tag). This only applies to the chordsheet, since notation windows always play from the ending or tag already.
Right Click on ChordSheet (or notation) to quickly set Chorus Begin, Chorus End, or Song Ending
    * Added: Real Drums button now has a menu (like RealTracks picker button) to choose RD Prefs or RD Picker. Ctrl-Click or Shift-Click to choose the Prefs or Picker directly.
    * Added: The Auto-generated song memo now says if Real Drums come from the song or style
    * Added: A message now appears if a frozen track is loaded, but the required RealTracks or RealDrums folders do not exist.
    * Improved: Frozen tracks now start playing faster if played again.
    * Improved: In the RealTracks picker, the columns for Set # and Holds # sort is improved.
    * Important change: The default for the tempo swapping feature for RealTracks is now true. It used to be false. Tempo-swapping is a nice feature that will automatically substitute a similar RealTracks that is recorded at a tempo closer to the current tempo. For example, if you load a ballad style, with a RealTracks piano at a tempo of 60, and then speed the song up to 200, BBs tempo-swapping feature will choose a RealTracks piano that is closer to 200, likely one that is 190. Prefs-RealTracks to disable this feature.
    * Improved: Band-in-a-Box will keep on generating RealTracks even if some wav files are missing.
    * Fixed: Chord Options Update button updates the chordsheet, clear all works better.
    * Changed: File-New gets volumes of 127, instead of 90.
    * Fixed: Spurious message about better realtracks available when half-time realtracks were used.
    * Fixed: Copying melody when regions overlapped was losing some notes
    * Fixed: Frozen tracks were playing louder, when Play pressed again.
    * Fixed: StyleFavorites.txt and SongFavorites.txt now stored in Preferences Folder instead of BB folder.
    * Fixed: Error when adding a style favorites from the recently used styles dialog.
    * Fixed: Stylemaker list of soloists was stopping at 898
    * Fixed: Audition button and + button (band audition) fixed in RealTracks Settings dialog. Looks for a band or solo demo in the RealTracks - Demos folder, and then the RT Folder, and then the web (pgmusic.com).
    Band-in-a-Box v 2010b11 Mar 25, 2010 MacOS X Intel
Summary of Changes for Build 11 (March 24, 2010)
    * Fixed: Bug with saving/loading F5 bar changes which affected builds 9 and 10, but did not affect earlier 2009 builds
    * Fixed: Wrong Patch changes were getting written to some RealCharts
    * Fixed: Generate Single Track of RealTracks would generate it twice with halfTime/Double Time tracks
    * Fixed: Some Bluesy RealTracks (like 751) weren't playing bluesy
    * Fixed: Time-offset track mute regions if there are F5 bar time signature changes in a song
    * Fixed: Prevent drum shots and pushes "leaking thru" on F5 muted bars.

Summary of Changes for Build 10 (March 22, 2010)
    * Updated: Support added for newer Styles, RealTracks, and RealDrums.
    * Fixed: Remembers CoreMIDI port assignments between runs.
    * Fixed: Lost clicks on Toolbar buttons, especially the Stop button if it is clicked very quickly.
    * Improved: Slight improvements to Realtracks playback timing.
    * Added: Mouse scroll wheel support to the Main Window chord/notation panel.
    * Added: Mouse scroll wheel support to the Song Picker dialog, Style Picker dialog, RealDrums Picker dialog, RealTracks Picker Dialog, Soloist Picker dialog.
    * Improved: Frozen tracks can now have volume changes applied to them (mute etc.) by f5 dialog at any time (realtracks only) including after they are frozen.
    * Fixed: Volume changes (e.g. f5 dialog - mute at certain bars) were not working for generated soloists
    * Fixed: If soloist was generated on a blank song, the song wouldn't generate, just the solo would play.
    * Added: Looping any region added. Highlight the region (on the main chordsheet), then press PlayLoop button. If you open the notation it will the selected area also.
    * Fixed: Hold chord at end works for MIDI and RealTracks.
    * Fixed: Show all styles button in the StylePicker fixed.
    * Fixed: Spurious message "this function cannot be done while the solo is generated" was showing up sometimes.
    Band-in-a-Box v 2010 Mar 17, 2010 MacOS X Intel
    * There is now a "Plug-in" mode for your favorite sequencer (GarageBand, ProTools, Logic, Nuendo, Reaper and more). With the new plug-in mode, BB is open as a small always-on-top window, and acts as a plug-in for your favorite DAW/sequencer, so that you can Drag-n-Drop MIDI and audio (AIFF) tracks from BB to your favorite sequencer. Work in your favorite sequencer, type a progression in Band-in-a-Box, and then simply drag the track from Band-in-a-Box to your sequencer's track at the desired track and bar location.
    * No more long waits for RealTracks to generate! RealTracks generate much faster, 4X faster on average. A typical song with RealTracks that took 20 seconds to generate will generate now in about 5 seconds. And if you freeze some or all tracks in the song (see below), playback of RealTracks is almost instantaneous.
    * Time for generation of MIDI arrangement is much faster - now "instantaneous" (less than 1 second)!
    * Freezing (locking) MIDI or Real tracks/RealDrums. Any track can now be frozen (MIDI or Real track). When frozen, it won't get changed or re-generated. This saves time when replaying previous songs, and allows you to freeze an arrangement that you like. If you freeze the whole song, you don't have to wait at all for the song to regenerate. Next time you play, it is ready to go. (Note: this new freeze feature is different than the previous limited freeze feature that renders the whole arrangement to the audio track)
    * All Tracks can be Edited and Saved. MIDI tracks for bass, drums, piano, guitar and strings can now be edited, and saved with the file. If you freeze a track, edits can be still made to it, because it is only frozen from BB making changes to it (you can still edit it), so that the MIDI track will be saved to the file. So you can customize the bass part to match a certain song, and save it with a Frozen bass part, so that BB won't overwrite your edits. This includes RealCharts – if you wanted to edit the notation of a RealTracks solo for example.
    * Soloist generated RealTracks are now saved with the song, so you will hear the RealTracks play the same solo when you reload the song. RealTracks now support new features, including Shots, Holds, and Pushes. Simply type in the chords as you normally would, adding periods (…) for shots and holds, and the RealTracks will play them. Note for this, you need the installer that creates a Library\Holds folder in your RealTracks folder.
    * RealTracks endings have been enhanced, and are now 4 bar endings instead of 2 bar, allowing time for a natural decay of the instruments.
    * Multiple Undo support. Up to 999 levels of undo (configurable).
    * Always Save all song settings. Now all settings are saved with songs, including patches, reverbs, volume etc., so that the song will play the same way each time, without having to set this in the Save With Patches dialog.
    * Reverb control added for individual tracks with RealTracks or RealDrums, so you can easily add reverb (0 to 127) for any RealTrack. Reverb type also settable, and saved with the song.
    * Bass/Treble Tone Control added for individual tracks with RealTracks or RealDrums, so you can easily adjust the bass/treble EQ for any RealTrack. Settings save with the song.
    * Band-in-a-Box window is now sizable, when size changes, chord sheet, notation, and other windows redraw in proportion to the new size. This allows you to have BB open as a small window on screen with other programs, and you still see a full chord sheet. The screen size is remembered between sessions.
    * New favorite songs/styles dialog, with separate lists of 'recently played' and favorite songs or styles. The previous 'favorite' songs/styles dialog was a list of recently used songs/styles. Now there are 2 tabs in this dialog, showing you both recently used songs/styles, and a new list of 'favorites' that you select as a favorite songs or styles. You can add an unlimited number of favorites.
    * Double time and half-time support for RealTracks added. Now you can play any RealTracks at half-time or double time. This allows you to, for example, in a ballad at tempo of 70, to add a RealTracks Sax solo with tempo of 140, and play it as a double time, which will match the ballad tempo of 70. So now all of your existing RealTracks can be used at 3 different tempos. (normal, half-time, double time)
    * Tempo swapping of similar RealTracks. This feature happens either automatically or manually. If you set "Auto RealTracks substitution based on tempo" to true in RealTracks Settings dialog or Additional Song Settings dialog, BB will automatically choose the best one to use. For example, if you have a ballad loaded, with an Acoustic Bass RealTracks at tempo of 60, and you speed up the tempo to 140, and press play, BB will automatically choose an Acoustic Bass RealTracks closer to tempo of 140, if it is the same genre and feel. This means you can use a simple Jazz style, and play it at various tempos, without having to set the best RealTracks based on tempos. If you don't want this feature to work automatically, set "Auto RealTracks substitution based on tempo" to false. The RealTracks that support the Tempo Swapping are listed in the next to last column of the RealTracks assign dialog.
    * Rendering now has a Normalize option, to normalize individual tracks or the complete arrangement. Normalizing boosts the volume to a maximum level without distortion. Most professional music tracks are normalized.
    * RealDrums picker dialog has been enhanced, with information about Artist name, Artist bio, and Real Drums Set number.
    * Songs 'Saved-As" a different name now have the new name added to the Recently Used song dialog.
    * Support enhanced for non-concert instruments (Bb/Eb sax, trumpet etc.). Now when chord sheet is transposed, you can type in chords in the transposed key, and they will show up as you have entered them, instead of requiring you to enter the chords in the concert key.
    * More Soloists are now available, up to 2000.
    * RealTracks Picker dialog enhanced :
    Opens up faster.
New Columns added (tempo swappable, holds type)
    * Many messages changed to "yellow alerts" at top right of screen, so that you don't have to respond to the message, interrupting work flow.
    * And many more!
    Band-in-a-Box v 2009.5b6 Aug 16, 2009 MacOS X UB
    * Added: Audio Chord Wizard Enhancements - Lead Sheet window that shows the chords for the whole song on a single screen. This allows you to click on a bar on the lead sheet to jump to that area of the song. You can mark sections of the song using part markers, and the sections begin on a new line with a line space between so are clearly seen. Chord editing capability added, and much more.
    * Improved: Guitar RealCharts have been improved. The new guitar RealTracks have more accurate guitar display/tab/notation for the corresponding RealTracks.
    * Improved: Realtracks are enhanced. These features are present in the new RealTracks that are released with 2009.5 - smoother playing of piano parts over slash chords, support for some more complex slash chords like C7/E played by piano, RealTracks feature to only play certain riffs in appropriate keys. This feature happens automatically, no settings are needed.
    * Added: Any missing RealTracks/RealDrums are listed. When a song is loaded, played or saved, a yellow hint message will appear if any RealTracks or RealDrums are missing, listing the files that are missing.
    * Added: Chord Options dialog now has a 'Clear All' button that erases all Rests/Shots/Pushes/Pedal Bass from a song.
    * Improved: Audible 'Audio Glitches' in some RealTracks are removed.
    * Added: Songs with RealTracks on the Drums track (and no drum part) get a drum countin. For example, _BG_BAND.STY
    * Added: If a ChordSheet/ notation transpose is in effect, a Transpose yellow hint message on bootup as a reminder.
    * Added: Option for Melody Guitar rechannel, to include events already on guitar channel
    * Added: Message when no style demo found in RealTracks dialog
    * Added: Many more demos shown in RealTracks dialog.
    * Fixed: Endings weren't playing for RealTracks that had 2 substyles.
    * Fixed: Some chords were silent for certain type of RealTracks. (with 2 substyles)
    * Fixed: RealTracks not honoring break bars on replay
    * Fixed: Visually hung notes on guitar or piano sometimes showing when stop was pressed.
    * Fixed: AudioChordWizard, average song tempo was being set to 120 in Band-in-a-Box, instead of the actual tempo
    * Fixed: RealTracks now searchable by artist name.
    * Fixed: With some of the 101 Riffs, there are audio memos with the riffs that weren't playing.
    * Changed: When File-New, a chord isn't added to the ending bar of the song. Note: A chord would get added to the ending bar if you press Play and none exists, this is normal.

    Band-in-a-Box v 2009 May 22, 2009 MacOS X UB
    * RealTracks! We've added "Real" instruments, including guitars, piano, bass, and many more! These are not "samples," but are full recordings, lasting from 1 to 8 bars at a time, playing along in perfect sync with the other Band-in-a-Box tracks.
    * RealDrums! RealDrums replace the MIDI Drum track with real recordings of top studio Jazz/Rock/Country drummers. These are not "samples," but are full recordings, lasting from 1 to 8 bars at a time, playing along in perfect sync with the other Band-in-a-Box tracks. The results are dramatically better than MIDI. They sound like a real drummer, because they are recordings of a real drummer. Adding a real instrument to the mix makes all of the Band-in-a-Box parts sound more authentic.
    * RealCharts! Many RealTracks can also display notation showing the notes that are being played. This is a great educational feature, allowing you to see the performance on the on-screen piano, guitar, or notation. Some Guitar RealTracks also show tab, and accurate on-screen fretboard guitar display to show what is being played on guitar. The RealCharts can be saved to MIDI file or Songs (MGU).
    * Look Ma, No MIDI! You can use the RealTracks just like any other Band-in-a-Box styles. Previous Band-in-a-Box styles were all MIDI instruments. Now the styles can have both MIDI and RealTracks instruments, or they can be RealStyles which are styles which are all RealTracks, with no MIDI instruments
    * Audio Chord Wizard - automatically figures out the chords from MP4A files (or other audio files like AIFF, M4A, and audio CD etc.). Using the Audio Chord Wizard is a great way to learn and practice popular songs, as you play along and see the chords. You can use the Audio Chord Wizard standalone, or with Band-in-a-Box!
    * "Direct-to-Disk" Audio Rendering - Audio rendering means converting a song to audio format, usually to an AIFF, M4A or other audio file. Now you can render directly to disk. You can choose to save an entire arrangement on a single track, or on a separate file for each track, or you can save a single track to disk. Band-in-a-Box will save to disk in AIFF format in 5-10 seconds!

    Band-in-a-Box v 2012 Apr 16, 2012 Windows

    Band-in-a-Box v 2011.5 Jul 12, 2011 Windows
  • Floating Mixer Window

  • We've added a new Mixer window, allowing you to quickly set volumes, panning, reverb, tone and patches. The Mixer floats on top of the current window, so you can place it wherever it's convenient to make quick and easy adjustments to your Band-in-a-Box track settings. To open the Mixer window, you can click on the Mixer button on the toolbar, choose Windows menu | Mixer Window or use the hotkey Ctrl+Shift+M.

  • "BB Remote" iPhone app

  • The BB Remote app can be used as a remote control for your desktop version of Band-in-a-Box 2011.5 for Windows. You may want to be somewhere else other than sitting at your PC as you play songs. For example, you might want to sit at the piano, or at your music stand, or be sitting on the couch with your guitar in hand. The BB Remote app installs to your iPhone (via the iPhone app store), and then connects to the desktop version of Band-in-a-Box for Windows 2011.5. The app has different screens, accessible by "swiping" the screen to the left/right, including a main Chords Window, Conductor Window (for live control of BB), and a Mixer Window.
Note: The BB Remote iPhone app will be available for purchase from the iTunes App store shortly.

Note: There is another application for iPhone that we make, called "Band-in-a-Box for iPhone", that lets you generate new songs – with the sound coming from the iPhone - and it isn't a remote control like this one. With the remote control, the sounds come from the desktop version.

  • RealTracks Enhancements

  • "Same-But-Different RealTracks" ensures that, if you have 2 (or more) of the same RealTracks on different tracks, that they will never play the same thing at the same time. If they did, it would cancel each other out and it would sound like one person.
Pedal Bass is now supported for RealTracks.
Bigger Soloists are supported. Some of our soloists have more riffs than previous RealTracks, so they sound better. These soloists require Band-in-a-Box 2011.5 to work.
Better pushes in RealTracks, especially over songs with chord changes every 2 beats. These are the natural pushes that occur automatically (not the ones you get by putting ^ carets before chord names)
RealTracks Waltzes are improved; better playing when there are 2 chords per bar, and better endings.
Better endings when there are time signature changes in the song.

  • 101 New RealTracks

  • 32 Jazz RealTracks! Including...
Groovin' Jazz Funk - features a groove that sits right in the pocket, with drums, electric bass, electric guitar, electric piano, and alto sax. 9 individual RealTracks styles in all.

Gypsy Jazz Waltz - features the big name players in the world of modern Gypsy Jazz, playing uptempo waltz styles.
More Swingin' Jazz Guitar with Oliver Gannon - 5 new RealTracks styles with a Classic Jazz Electric Guitar tone.
More Swingin' Piano & Organ with Mike LeDonne - The organ works over the whole tempo spectrum, from slow ballads to fast bop, and you have the choice of using the traditional jazz organ technique of having the bass played on the organ, or you can choose instead to have the organ stick to comping only.

    37 New Pop/Rock/Folk RealTracks!
70s Soul - features a full RealTracks band of electric bass, drums, electric guitar, piano, and synth
Celtic Hornpipes & Slipjigs, including a traditional Irish Bodhran hand drum. The Hornpipe is a stately swing 8ths groove, similar to a Reel, but at a slower tempo. A slipjig, is a quicker paced 9:8 style, like a jig, but with 3 extra 8th notes at the end of each bar. Common styles in the Celtic repertoire
More Pop-Rock Bass - 5 new electric bass RealTracks styles that blend beautifully with many of our previously-released RealTracks.
Crossover Pop - Includes Banjo, Electric Guitar, Piano, and some RealDrums styles.
Fast Pop Waltz - Wide range of instruments: Electric Bass, Fiddle, Acoustic Guitar, Electric Guitar, Mandolin, Pedal Steel, and Acoustic Piano.

  • More enhancements in Band-in-a-Box 2011.5

  • You can now audition a style in the StylePicker without changing your existing arrangement, by using the "WebDemo" button, which plays a streaming demo from the web. For example, if you see a style like _JSWINGG "Jazz Swing w/ Electric Guitar", you can hear what it sounds like without loading in the style. This is useful because you hear an audio demo of a good example of the style in action. It is also useful because it can demo a style that you don't have, or you can compare to make sure that yours sounds the same as it is supposed to sound.

StylePicker filter added. Display styles if RealTracks are not present. You may want to not display styles if the RealTracks for the styles are not present on your system. This filter allows you to hide or show these styles.

RealDrums can now be chosen from the RealTracks Picker. Pressing the [RD] (RealDrums) button on the RealTracks Picker (Assign RealTracks to Tracks dialog) allows you to select a RealDrums, rather than needing to a separate dialog for that. The current RealDrums set in use is now displayed on the RealTracks Picker.

When [Save Style] is pressed in the RealTracks Picker the current drum volume will also apply to the style. Also, the RealTracks Picker can be chosen from the Drums radio button right-click menu.

Drum Styles button in RealDrums Picker enhanced. It now shows more styles, including all styles that use that particular Real Drum style, including RealStyles and MIDI styles.

Guitar Tutor enhancements. If copying a Guitar Tutor part to Melody or Soloist track, the track type now gets auto-set to the correct tab and fretboard. So if you are using a ukulele tutor, you can copy and see the tab for ukulele chords.

Selecting a new style won't necessarily wipe out song based RealTracks/Drums selections.
    Band-in-a-Box v 2010.5b304 Jul 28, 2010 Windows
Fixed: Lyrics issue in non-English versions. This build (304) is the same as build 303, except for a small fix for non-English versions. If you are already using English build 303, there is no reason to install build 304 (although there is no harm in doing so).
    Band-in-a-Box v 2010 Mar 17, 2010 Windows
    * There now is a "Plug-in" mode for your favorite sequencer (RealBand, Sonar, Reaper, ProTools, FL-Studio, Nuendo and more). With the new plug-in mode, BB is open as a small always-on-top window, and acts as a plug-in for your favorite DAW/sequencer, so that you can Drag-n-Drop MIDI and audio (WAV) tracks from BB to your favorite sequencer. Work in your favorite sequencer, type a progression in Band-in-a-Box, and then simply drag the track from Band-in-a-Box to your sequencer's track at the desired track and bar location.
    * No more long waits for RealTracks to generate! RealTracks generate much faster, 3X faster on average. A typical song with RealTracks that took 20 seconds to generate will generate now in about 6 seconds. And if you freeze some or all tracks in the song (see below), playback of RealTracks is almost instantaneous.
    * Freezing (locking) MIDI or RealTracks/RealDrums. Any track can now be frozen (MIDI, RealTracks, or RealDrums).
    * Soloist generated RealTracks are now saved with the song, so you will hear the RealTracks play the same solo when you reload the song.
    * RealTracks now support new features, including Shots, Holds, and Pushes. Simply type in the chords as you normally would, adding periods (…) for shots and holds, and the RealTracks will play them.
Favorite Song/Style lists can be edited, sorted, saved/loaded, and used with the jukebox. You can add an unlimited # of favorites. Also, a Sort button has been added to Favorite/Recent songs/styles dialog.
(normal, half-time, double time)
    * Automatic Tempo swapping of similar RealTracks. If you have similar RealTracks available at different tempos, BB will automatically choose the best one to use.
    * Rendering now has a Normalize option, to normalize individual tracks or the complete arrangement. Normalizing boosts the volume to a maximum level without distortion. Most professional music tracks are normalized.
    * RealDrums picker dialog has been enhanced, with information about Artist name, Artist bio, and RealDrums Set number.
    * Rendering songs to audio is now much faster for songs with no MIDI, such as RealStyles.
    * Rendering RealTracks no longer require you to have a DXi or VST in use.
    * Lyrics enhanced.
    * Undo added for entry of individual lyrics
    * 'Enter' and 'Close' button added to lyric entry
    * Lyrics toggle to editable notation view if lyric mode is entered in note roll mode, so that lyrics are visible.
    * More Soloists are now available, up to 2000.
    * RealTracks Picker dialog enhanced :
    - opens up faster.
    - New Columns added (tempo swappable, holds type)
    - Columns are now sizable, and remember the sizes
    * Rendering WAV dialog enhanced. It has a simpler layout. The Render wav file doesn't need to be in same folder – it can be in any folder/drive.
    * StylePicker is enhanced. Favorites and Recent styles now appear in this dialog as separate lists. It now has the ability to add/remove styles as favorites. A Favorite Style indication (F) shows up for each style. You can filter any list by only showing favorite styles. Over time, you can build up a list of favorite styles, and only show them when needed.
    * Many messages changed to "yellow alerts" at top right of screen, so that you don't have to respond to the message, interrupting work flow.
    * And many more!
    Band-in-a-Box v 2009b282 Feb 23, 2009 Windows
    * Fixed: BarVolume data and some other settings weren't saving if Melody or Soloist track was a RealChart.
    * Improved: For search and replace, if no rest or push is mentioned in the "replace with" chord, then it will just preserve whatever pushes/rests are there.
    Band-in-a-Box v 2006b220 Jul 6, 2006 Windows
Added: Support for all of the latest Band-in-a-Box Styles, Soloists, and Melodists available from PG Music Inc.
Fixed: When drum lead-in was set to play patterns, sometimes played a fill on bar 1 when styles were live drums.
Added: Better support for Bandstand, and other synths that take time to load new patches. See the files 'UsingBandstandWithBIAB.pdf' and 'ReadmeBandstand.txt' in the folder c:\bb\Bandstand Technical Notes.
Changed: '0' to delete a pattern in StyleMaker now requires a confirmation dialog. Delete key still doesn't.
Fixed: In the StyleMaker, added a "style has changed" reminder when notation has been edited or just the pattern weight has been changed.
Added: Option to set a style to use riff voicings that are a simple transposition, instead of mapping to chord tones. This is set in Miscellaneous-Riff voicings use chord tones. If you de-select this, the style would simply transpose a riff-based voicing (for piano/guitar/strings) instead of mapping it to chord tones. You can also force EVERY style to map riff-based patterns in this way, by putting a file called 'RIFF12.TXT' in the folder. If you do this, all patterns that are set to riff-based voicing will simply be transposed instead of mapped to chord tones. Note: riff-based voicing is a rarely used setting, and this likely affects less than 1% of styles.
Fixed: Occasional problem when style used live drums, the intro was set to play drum patterns, and there were pushes present in bar 1 or bar 2 (the drums would be silent for awhile).
Fixed: Piano Roll now displays drum patch names instead of instrument patches when viewing the drum track.
Fixed: Melodist Editor - 'SET' button was obscured by the chorus combo box.
